Ch–ch–ch–changes: time to face the strain, presciently sang David Bowie looking forward to the 41st Tokyo Motor Show. Even the show itself has suffered a pitiful transformation, stripped to just the Japanese firms after the European and American car makers block voted with their feet and jilted the show to save cash.
Former Bertone and Pininfarina designer, Jason Castriota, has opened his own design consultancy based in New York and Turin. CDN recently caught up with Castriota - who is currently in New York - and discovered he's already working on a series of projects, despite having not yet officially launched the company. Castriota told us that it had always been his "dream to have my own consultancy in New York", yet what's clearly pleasing him most is the volume of work he's already accrued, without officially launching the firm.
The Skoda Superb Combi Outdoor is the Skoda take on the VW family ‘Allroad’, with a raised ride height and bolt-on plastic goodness. Even now, when Skoda has all but managed to shake off the mantle of Soviet Skip, the Superb Combi is still a much underrated car. The Superb Combi looks good, is well equipped and far more appealing than its (perfectly decent) hatch sibling.
